Italian Press is up to date!

The italian daily newspaper “Corriere della Sera” published an article about ’I libri traduceteli in pixel. Come in America’. John Carlo Bertot and Anna Maria Tammaro were interviewed about the new technical aims and about IFLA and this 8th Northumbria International Conference on Performance Measurement in Libraries and Information Services.

Monday Sessions

After a small florentine coffee break, the were held three parallel sessions. Starting with “Catching leopards in the library” (Michael Heaney); “Culling the herd” (Michiel Erik Moll); ”Contextual approach to understanding the Socio-Cultural function of a public library in Japan” (Lisa Klopfer; Haruki Nagata).

In the second session topics like “The Research Commons: a different creature in the library” (Karin de Jager, Colin Darch, William Daniels) and “How to win freinds and influence decisions” were discussed.

The last session for the first day papers were given on “Using web-based surveys to cunduct research” ( John Carlo Bertot); “National Accounting and Accountability of Libraries and Related Organizations” (Jaocopo Di Cocco) and ” Outcomes and value of public access computing in libraries” ( Ugne Rutkauskiene).

We are looking forward to our second conference day!

The conference has started

Dear Participants,

we are grateful that you have choosen our satellite meeting here in Florence. The Organisation Team is really proud that could hold this conference in the ‘Istituto degli Innocenti’, which has been working for nearly six centuries on behalf of the family and the child. Ms. Alessandra Maggi , the President of the Institute, talked about the history and function of the building and institution. There is also a library that covers all aspects of child care and needs.

Welcome and Introduction took place at 14 and we are thankful to Margaret Graham and Anna Maria Tammaro who gave details about the agenda.

We appreciate that Professor Robert Hayes gave a lecture as Keynote Speaker on ‘Library functions in national information economies”.
