After a small florentine coffee break, the were held three parallel sessions. Starting with “Catching leopards in the library” (Michael Heaney); “Culling the herd” (Michiel Erik Moll); ”Contextual approach to understanding the Socio-Cultural function of a public library in Japan” (Lisa Klopfer; Haruki Nagata).
In the second session topics like “The Research Commons: a different creature in the library” (Karin de Jager, Colin Darch, William Daniels) and “How to win freinds and influence decisions” were discussed.
The last session for the first day papers were given on “Using web-based surveys to cunduct research” ( John Carlo Bertot); “National Accounting and Accountability of Libraries and Related Organizations” (Jaocopo Di Cocco) and ” Outcomes and value of public access computing in libraries” ( Ugne Rutkauskiene).
